Review: TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe Golf Ball

Review: TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe Golf Ball

As an avid golfer who has tested numerous golf balls, I recently had the opportunity to play with the TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe golf ball. Here’s my comprehensive review, outlining both the pros and cons of this golf ball:

Pros:

  1. Exceptional Feel: The TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe golf ball offers a remarkable feel off the clubface. Whether you’re hitting drives off the tee or delicate approach shots into the green, the ball provides a satisfying sensation that instills confidence in your game.
  2. Controlled Spin: One of the standout features of the Tour Response ball is its ability to generate controlled spin. This is particularly advantageous on approach shots, allowing you to stop the ball quickly on the greens and better control your trajectory in windy conditions.  It is also worth noting that we found that the Tour Response doesn’t spin as much as the Pro-V1. This isn’t a bad thing though as it seems to be a little more controllable for the mid handicappers, who often put too much spin on the Pro-V1’s, but don’t play for the backspin that they get.
  3. Distance Performance: While it’s not marketed as a distance ball, the Tour Response still delivers impressive distance off the tee. The combination of its low-compression core and aerodynamic design ensures consistent ball flight and respectable yardage gains.
  4. Durable Cover: Despite its soft feel, the Tour Response boasts a durable urethane cover that holds up well against scuffs and scratches. This durability ensures that the ball maintains its performance characteristics throughout multiple rounds of play.  As someone who plays from the bunkers quite a bit, the Tour Response held up as good as any other ball on the market.
  5. Alignment Aid: The Tour Response Stripe golf ball features one of the most unique alignment aids on the market. We found that that this assists with alignment and putting accuracy more than any other ball on the market. This detail can make a significant difference, especially when lining up crucial putts on challenging greens.  With all honestly I putted better with this golf ball than any other that I have tried, and I say with a fact it is due to the stripe alignment aid.
  6. Price: You will see this one on the pro and the con list.  As a pro the ball feels and plays like a premium golf ball suck as the Pro-V1, however it is $12.00 dollars cheaper.  While this doesn’t make this a cheap golf ball, it is a dollar less per golf ball.

Cons:

  1. Price: Like many premium golf balls, the TaylorMade Tour Response comes with a higher price tag compared to budget-friendly alternatives. While its performance justifies the cost for serious golfers, budget-conscious players may find it a bit pricey for their liking.
  2. Not Ideal for High Handicappers: While the Tour Response offers excellent performance for mid to low handicappers, it may not be the best choice for high handicappers who prioritize forgiveness and distance over spin control and feel.

Who is this ball for?

This ball seems to be best fitted for mid handicappers and below, with slightly higher swing speeds. While the price is cheaper than some premium golf balls it is still somewhat deflating when you lose a ball in the water that is roughly $3.50, therefore this ball seems best for a golfer who doesn’t lose a lot of golf balls or doesn’t have to be concerned about the price of golf balls.
